A fire occurred in March 2012 to a house on Church Street near South Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie, NY. The heat from the fire affected the vinyl siding of the houses nearby. Obviously, the house was completely demolished following the fire. The adjacent houses were repaired.
The building was closed when I photographed it in March 2013, and it was demolished relatively soon afterwards. The signage indicated it was a florist, but the interior also contained framing materials. It was located on South Road/Route 9 in Poughkeepsie at 41.648949, -73.926729.

Photos of the building most recently signed as the Ehmer Meat Market on Main Street in Poughkeepsie between South Hamilton Street and Academy Street, on the south side of the street. During renovations in 2013, the old sign was removed, revealing signage of its previous usage as the French Pastry Shop and Restaurant. An undated historic photograph shows the French Pastry sign.
The Kimlin House is located across from the Kimlin Cider Mill on Cedar Avenue in Poughkeepsie. The house was for sale in 2012 as a tear-down, so I contacted the realtor and photographed it. Luckily, the house was purchased by someone who is restoring it, so I went back after the restoration had began and snapped some more photos. The owner has a lot of work ahead!
Alex’s Restaurant, at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street in downtown Poughkeepsie, is a local favorite. Soon before these photographs were taken, a portion of the sign fell off/was removed, revealing a neat older sign.
This circa 1835 house, known as the Diem House, is located at 45 Springside Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. A root cellar and barn are associated with the house. Unfortunately the barn was demolished in May 2015.

This drain is located on the west side of Route 9, across from the Abraham Fort Homestead. There is a structure inside and I do not know what it is. When I took the pictures, the hill was wooded, but in late 2011 the area was being redeveloped, but the drain was still there. I have not gone back since then to check if it is still present.

The Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery was started in 1852 during the rural cemetery revolution and is currently 165 acres along the east bank of the Hudson River.
Maple Grove, located in Poughkeepsie, NY, is part of a collection of farm estates which once lined South Road (Route 9). The mansion was built in 1850, and despite being unoccupied since 1955 and enduring a serious fire in 1985, Maple Grove has managed to survive. Reconstruction and restoration efforts have begun and an appropriate new use is being sought for the building.
